A daily Wordle-style puzzle for your website

MojiTiles brings the daily puzzle habit to your website: a new colour code every day, six tries and a shareable score. Here's how it brings visitors back.

Millions of people start their day with a small puzzle. One try a day, a few minutes of thinking, a grid of coloured squares to share with friends. Wordle turned that ritual into a habit for the whole world. Now imagine that habit happening on your website, every day, for your visitors. That is the idea behind MojiTiles, a daily code-breaking puzzle you can add to any website with one line of code.

What is MojiTiles?

MojiTiles is a daily puzzle with the same simple rules people already know from Wordle, but with colours instead of letters. Every day there is a new secret code of five colours. Your visitors have six tries to crack it, and after each guess the tiles show how close they are:

  • 😎 the colour is in the right place,
  • 😍 the colour is in the code, but somewhere else,
  • 😂 the colour isn't in the code at all.

The code is the same for everyone on your website that day, so visitors are solving the same puzzle as everyone else, just like the original. New players start with two practice rounds, so they learn the rules before today's code counts. Once they have played today's game, they can keep practising with new codes for as long as they like.

Why colours instead of words?

A word game needs a dictionary, and a dictionary needs a language. That makes word puzzles hard to use on a website with visitors from many countries, and impossible to share between languages. Colours and emojis work everywhere. A visitor in Copenhagen, Berlin or São Paulo can play exactly the same puzzle without translating a single word, which makes MojiTiles a daily game for any website in the world.

It is also built to be accessible. If some of your visitors are colour-blind, you can switch on numbers on the colours in your dashboard, so everyone can play.

Seven things a daily puzzle does for your website

1. Visitors come back every day

This is the big one. Most websites struggle to bring visitors back without paying for ads or sending emails. A daily puzzle gives people a reason to return tomorrow, and the day after. Once it becomes part of someone's routine, your website becomes part of their day. No newsletter needed.

2. Streaks keep the habit going

Every player gets their own statistics: games played, win percentage, current streak, best streak and how many tries their wins usually take. Nobody wants to break a 12-day streak, so they come back tomorrow to keep it alive. A countdown shows exactly when the next code arrives. And for a bit of fun, every win earns Moji-Mock coins, a currency that is worth exactly nothing but whose price still goes up and down.

3. Every share is free advertising

Wordle spread because people shared their results. MojiTiles works the same way: when players click Share result, they get their emoji grid with your website's address at the bottom, ready to paste into a message or a social post:

Every shared score shows your website's name to the player's friends. That is word of mouth you don't have to pay for.

4. Crack the code, get the code

For shops, this is where play turns into sales. Add a discount code as the reward, and visitors who crack today's puzzle win it. You decide whether the code goes to winners only or to everyone who plays. A discount you have earned feels much better than one in a banner, and people are more likely to use it. Only today's code counts, so the reward can't be won by replaying practice games.

5. More time on your website

A round of MojiTiles takes a few minutes of focused attention. For blogs, news sites and magazines, that means visitors who stay longer, look around and read more. We explain why longer visits matter in Website games and SEO.

6. A game that looks like yours

MojiTiles uses your brand colour and font, and you choose which corner of the page it sits in. It opens from a small button when a visitor wants to play, so it never covers your content or gets in the way. On phones, the game fills the screen while it is open and closes with one tap.

7. You see what it brings

In your dashboard you can follow every step: how many open the game, start playing, win, share their result, see the reward and copy the code. That makes it easy to see whether the game pays off, and to adjust your reward if it doesn't.

Four levels of difficulty

Some visitors want a relaxed puzzle with their morning coffee, others want a real challenge. Players choose their own level before their first guess:

  • Normal: 8 colours. Colours that aren't in the code disappear from the keyboard.
  • Medium: 10 colours. Colours that aren't in the code still disappear.
  • Hard: 10 colours, and every colour stays on the keyboard, so players have to remember what they have ruled out.
  • Ninja: 8 colours that all look the same until the game is over. Players have to remember which key is which.

You choose the level new players start on, and their statistics show how many wins they have on each level. Harder levels earn more Moji-Mock coins.

Who is it for?

  • Webshops that want visitors to come back and turn play into sales with a discount code.
  • Blogs and news sites that want daily readers and longer visits.
  • Cafés, restaurants and local businesses that want a fun reason for people to visit their website, and to talk about it.
  • Brands with international visitors that need one game that works in every language.
